Typically, Memorial Weekend officially marks the end of the school year and the beginning of Summer. But no matter when you or your child gets out of school this year, the month of June always means one thing at Coastal – Summer of IMPACT! That’s right, and June 1st is THIS COMING THURSDAY! Now if you are fairly new to Coastal or you’ve been in hibernation, Summer of IMPACT is a month-long effort where we as a church saturate our community with the love of Jesus through simple acts of service. It’s basically what we do all throughout the year, but MULTIPLIED during the month of June (45 different projects)! There is something for everyone (including children). There are opportunities nearly every day of the month. You simply sign-up and then show-up. It’s that easy. Like everything we do at Coastal, each outreach project has a leader and each project is well-organized and fully funded.
In fact, the first weekend alone of Summer of IMPACT there are 12 different projects to choose from – Thursday: Neighbor’s Together, a Sewing Project; Friday: Oakland Graduation, Clothing Team Organize & Sort, Carolina Voyager Graduation; Saturday: Saturday Serve (7 different projects)! We even have a new color “Be the church!” t-shirt & SOI sunglasses for everyone!
So, it’s time to stop talking about it, and start doing it! Here’s what I am asking you to do RIGHT NOW:

Find the project(s) right for you and then sign up! You can sign up for as many opportunities as you want directly from our website. And by the way, you don’t even have to call Coastal your home to participate! Invite and bring your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to serve! Lowcountry Orphan Relief: Lowcountry Orphan Relief provides support services and aid to meet the needs of Lowcountry children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglect. Coastal will be serving there today, Friday, May 26th, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 1850 Truxton Ave in North Charleston.
Downtown Charleston “Hotdog Ministry”: We will be grilling and serving hotdogs to homeless and hungry downtown! Today, Friday, May 26th, 4-6pm. Meet at Coastal.

Neighbors Together Project: Help serve the homeless or those at risk in our community. Meet at 2105 Cosgrove Ave. Thursday, June 1st, 10am-1pm.
Summer Sewing Project: Join us as we make quilts for the “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” bunk beds and for the NICU at East Cooper Medical Center. All sewing levels welcome – beginners to veterans! Thursday, June 1st, 6-8pm.
Oakland Elementary School Graduation: We need Greeters, Hosts, & Golf Cart Drivers as we open our doors for our community. Friday, June 1st, 8am-11am.
Clothing Team: Our Coastal Clothing Team will be organizing and sorting clothes, Friday, June 2nd, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 2952 Old Pond Road on Johns Island.
Carolina Voyager School Graduation: We need Greeters, Hosts, & Golf Cart Drivers as we open our doors for our community. Friday, June 1st, 4pm-7pm.
Saturday Serve – The foundation of all of our serving opportunities at Coastal really starts with Saturday Serve – the first Saturday of every month. The next Saturday Serve is Saturday, June 3rd. We meet in the Welcome Center/Cafe at 8:30am, project leaders make a “pitch” for their serving opportunity, and then we serve!
Orange Grove Middle School Graduation: We need Greeters, Hosts, & Golf Cart Drivers as we open our doors for our community. Monday, June 5th, 8am-11:30am.
Clothing Team: Our Coastal Clothing Team will be organizing and sorting clothes, Monday, June 5th, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 2952 Old Pond Road on Johns Island.
Soldier’s Angels: We’ll be helping with the Veteran’s Mobile Food Distribution, Tuesday, June 6th, 8am-1pm. Meet at 1113 Sam Rittenburg Blvd. (The Elks Lodge).
Ronald McDonald House Meals That Heal: Tuesday, June 6th, 4-6pm. Online signup required. Contact Rachel Speer for more info.
VA Hospitality Project: This team serves at the VA Hospital in Charleston by providing a hospitality cart, greeting incoming patients and employees, visiting patients, and helping Volunteer Services with small sorting projects. Wednesday, June 7th, 8:30am-12pm. Meet at Coastal.

It’s where we take current or popular movies and use them as a hook to talk about spiritual truth. This year’s theme is, “Movies With A Message.” ALL 1st Time Guests (and the person who invited them – YOU) will receive a FREE Movie Ticket to Citadel Mall Theater throughout the entire series!
- Back by popular demand (well, popular demand might be a stretch)! But either way, PC & Janet’s Cooking Show is BACK! Join them on Facebook LIVE on PC’s Facebook page, this Tuesday, May 30th, 8pm. They’ll be cooking a meal (and giving it away), talking all things Coastal, and having a lot of FUN!
- If you’re fairly new to Coastal, a great next step is our Newcomers Reception. Our next Newcomers Reception is Sunday, June 25th, in our Chapel immediately following the 11:30am service (at approximately 12:45pm). This is a great way to learn more about Coastal, meet staff and key volunteers, as well as meet some other new people. Pizza and childcare provided. You can sign up on our website today!
- We are planning our Annual BEACH BAPTISM out at Folly Beach County Park on Sunday, June 11th, at 5pm. You can sign up for it on our website. The only requirement for Baptism is that you have personally given your life to Jesus. Baptism is a public profession of your faith, and it’s a great celebration! It beautifully illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. If you’re unable to participate in our Beach Baptism, remember at Coastal we’re ready for you to get Baptized any service, any Sunday. If you are interested in getting Baptized, simply respond to this email, sign up on your Connect Card, or sign up on our website.
P.S. Attention Coastal – VBS is only 6 weeks away – July 10th-14th, 6-8:15pm each night, for children 4 years old – 5th Grade! This year’s theme is a Space Theme and Astronaut Joe (pictured above) can’t wait to see you and your friends! You can start registering your children now!
