It was another awesome day at Coastal this past Sunday! Evidently, our men love them some IBC Root Beer and Beef Sticks! And evidently, our people love inviting their friends to church – we had 23 1st Time Guest Connect Cards filled out, and we gave away 54 movie tickets! Our in-person attendance was 1015 people (another 714 online)! Oh, and between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day we dedicated 37 children! Wow! Keep it up Coastal – keep inviting and bringing your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors (and keep having those babies – haha)!
Next week is the last full week of Summer of IMPACT, culminating next Saturday, July 1st with Saturday Serve. There are still plenty of opportunities left to serve during this final week of SOI. Don’t let this last week go by without YOU being a part of it. Go to our website, check out the remaining projects, and sign up today! But, as you know, even as June comes to a close, serving never comes to a close at Coastal. In fact, when you sign up to serve for SOI, you probably noticed that we’ve got projects lined up all the way through the end of the year!!
VBS is now 2 weeks away from this Monday night: July 10th-14th, 6-8:15pm each night, for children 4 years old – 5th Grade! We already have 231 children pre-registered! There are 4 Big Needs:
1. VOLUNTEERS! Go to our website and sign up today: https://churchteams.com/m/Register.asp?a=VEpxLzRBYW5TVDA9 I can promise you 2 things – you’ll be exhausted at the end of the week and you’ll say it was the BEST week of the Summer!
2. FOOD! At Coastal, we try to provide a mini meal for our VBS snacks since we meet during many families’ dinner time. If you are able to help provide any of these last remaining items, go here https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0844a9a82da4fe3-coastal1#/ to sign up.
3. PRE-REGISTRATION! If you haven’t already done so, PLEASE REGISTER YOUR CHILD ONLINE NOW. This really makes the check-in/registration process go so much smoother when VBS begins. Our Registration Team is already working hard at gathering all the information and putting groups of children together. Online Registration will be closed Sunday night, July 9th at 6pm. 4. NON-PERISHABLE FOOD/MONEY! Now, these 2 needs are actually a part of the week of VBS itself – our Mission for the week – but I want to go ahead and make you aware. The children and families of VBS will be asked to do 2 things as a part of our VBS Mission. There will be a canned goods/non-perishable food drive/competition. This will help supply our Food Bank which feeds hundreds of families in our community. We’ll also be taking up an offering that our Peru Missions Team will use to build 10 homes in Peru! Our goal is $10,000! So, be gathering up your canned goods and pray about what God would have you give.

Lowcountry Orphan Relief: Lowcountry Orphan Relief provides support services and aid to meet the needs of Lowcountry children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglect. Coastal will be serving there TODAY, Friday, June 23rd, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 1850 Truxton Ave in North Charleston.
Downtown Charleston “Hotdog Ministry”: We will be grilling and serving hotdogs to the homeless and hungry downtown! TODAY, Friday, June 23rd, 4-6pm. Meet at Coastal.
Sleep In Heavenly Peace Build-A-Bed Project: We will be building and assembling beds for children in need in the Charleston Community. TOMORROW, Saturday, June 24th, 10:30am-1pm, at Coastal.
Ronald McDonald House On the Go Meal Bags: On Tuesday, June 27th, 6:30-7:30pm, we will be packing “On the Go Meal/Snack Bags” for the resident of the Ronald McDonald House. Meet at Coastal.
VA Hospitality Project: This team serves at the VA Hospital in Charleston by providing a hospitality cart, greeting incoming patients and employees, visiting patients, and helping Volunteer Services with small sorting projects. Wednesday, June 28th, 8:30am-12pm. Meet at Coastal.
Coffee & Doughnuts with the Vets at Charleston Vets – Thursday, June 29th, 6am-9am. Meet at Coastal.
Summer Sewing Project: Join us as we make quilts for the “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” bunk beds and for the NICU at East Cooper Medical Center. All sewing levels welcome – beginners to veterans! Thursday, June 29th, 6-8pm.

Saturday Serve – The foundation of all of our serving opportunities at Coastal really starts with Saturday Serve – the first Saturday of every month. The next Saturday Serve is Saturday, July 1st. We meet in the Welcome Center/Cafe at 8:30am, project leaders make a “pitch” for their serving opportunity, and then we serve!

The next Saturday Serve is July 1st (technically after SOI), but it does serve to close out Summer of IMPACT. On Saturday, July 1st, be at Coastal at 8:30am, listen to our Leaders share about their projects, and then pick the one where you want to serve. It’s that simple. So if you’re able and available, sign up today!
- As a fun way to celebrate the Summer and our “At the Movies” series, we’d like to take any children from our church and their friends (and children at heart) to the 10:30am special showing of the new “Little Mermaid” movie at Citadel Mall Cinema, Wednesday, July 5th – ON US (concessions on you)! Doors open at 9:45am. RSVP on your Connect Card or respond to this email with a number of tickets you need.
- If you’re fairly new to Coastal, a great next step is our Newcomers Reception. Our next Newcomers Reception is THIS Sunday, June 25th, in our Chapel immediately following the 11:30am service (at approximately 12:45pm). This is a great way to learn more about Coastal, meet staff and key volunteers, as well as meet some other new people. Pizza and childcare provided. You can sign up on our website today!
- We are in the planning stages for our FALL LIFE GROUPS! LIFE Groups are the primary vehicle at Coastal for community – learning, friendships, fellowship, and care. We typically have all different types of Groups – Bible studies, book studies, activity groups, active groups, support groups, men’s/women’s groups. Would you possibly be interested in leading, assisting, or hosting a LIFE Group this Fall? The Fall Semester begins in September and depending on the Group, lasts for 8-12 weeks. P.S. Our “Summer Reading” series begins July 23rd! “Summer Reading” is where we as a Staff pick out 7 books worth reading over the Summer, and then each week we use the subject matter of one of the books as the subject of that week’s message. You can see the books and the dates in the graphic above. This Sunday, June 25th, we’ll have a small number of each book available for purchase at the church. Or simply pick up the books yourself through Amazon and enjoy! Remember – leaders are readers!
