Typically, Memorial Weekend officially marks the end of the school year and the beginning of Summer. But no matter when you or your child gets out of school this year, the month of June always means one thing at Coastal – Summer of IMPACT! That’s right, and June 1st is NEXT SATURDAY! Now if you are fairly new to Coastal or you’ve been in hibernation, Summer of IMPACT is a month-long effort where we as a church saturate our community with the love of Jesus through simple acts of service. It’s basically what we do all throughout the year, but MULTIPLIED during the month of June (58 different projects)! There is something for everyone (including children). There are opportunities nearly every day of the month. You simply sign-up and then show-up. It’s that easy. Like everything we do at Coastal, each outreach project has a leader and each project is well-organized and fully funded.
In fact, the first week alone (7 days) of Summer of IMPACT there are 23 different projects to choose from! 10 of those project will be on Saturday Serve, Saturday June 1st, 8:30am at the church! Historically, that Saturday Serve is one of the biggest of the year – kind of a kick-off/pep rally for Summer of IMPACT! You’re not going to want to miss it! We even have a new t-shirt (see picture above) for SOI 2024 that we’ll start giving out on June 1st at Saturday Serve!
So, it’s time to stop talking about it, and start doing it! Here’s what I am asking you to do RIGHT NOW:

Find the projects right for you and then sign up! You can sign up for as many opportunities as you want directly from our website. And by the way, you don’t even have to call Coastal your home to participate! Invite and bring your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to serve! - UPCOMING OUTREACH PROJECTS:
Downtown Charleston “Hotdog Ministry”: We will be grilling and serving hotdogs to the homeless and hungry downtown! Friday, May 31st, 4-6:30pm. Meet at Coastal.
Saturday Serve: The foundation of all of our serving opportunities at Coastal really starts with Saturday Serve – the first Saturday of every month. The next Saturday Serve is Saturday, June 1st. This Saturday Serve also serves as the kick-off of Summer of IMPACT! There will be 10 different projects! We meet in the Auditorium at 8:30am, Project Leaders make a “pitch” for their serving opportunity, and then we go out and serve!
Blood Drive: Saturday, June 1st, 8:30am-1:30pm (during Saturday Serve), our church is hosting a Blood Drive! The Blood Connection mobile truck will be in our parking lot.
NHC-Magwood Nursing Facility: Sunday, June 2nd, 2-4pm. Bring your family and let’s love on the residents of NHC nursing home! We will bring them some snacks, music, and fun! Meet at 2230 Ashley Crossing Dr.
Clothing Team: Our Coastal Clothing Team will be organizing and sorting clothes, Monday, June 3rd; Friday, June 7th, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 2952 Old Pond Road on Johns Island.
Hope Center Tailgate: The Hope Center, managed by the city of Charleston, serves as a one-stop shop in downtown Charleston to assist those who are homeless or who are at-risk of being homeless. We’re sending a Tailgate Team to serve dinner to anyone who is hungry. We meet at Coastal on Monday, June 3rd, 12pm-3pm.
Patriot Villas Workday: Tuesday, June 4th, 5-8pm. Meet at Coastal.
Coffee & Doughnuts at Charleston Vets: Wednesday, June 5th, 6am-9am. Meet at Coastal
Orange Grove 8th Grade Graduation: Coastal is hosting Orange Grove’s Graduation on Wednesday, June 5th, 9:30am-11:30am.
Carolina Voyager 8th Grade Graduation: Coastal is hosting Carolina Voyager’s Graduation on Wednesday, June 5th, 5pm-6pm.
Sewing Project: Wednesday, June 5th, 5pm-8pm. Meet in the Chapel.
VBS Prep: Thursday, June 6th, 6pm-8pm. Come help prep decorations and various supplies for this year’s Vacation Bible School!
Coffee & Doughnuts with the Vets at Patriot Villas – Friday, June 7th, 8:30am-11:30am. Meet at Coastal.
Lowcountry Orphan Relief: Lowcountry Orphan Relief provides support services and aid to meet the needs of Lowcountry children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglect. Coastal will be serving there, Friday, June 7th, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 1850 Truxton Ave in North Charleston.
Oakland Elementary School 5th Grade Graduation: Coastal is hosting Oakland’s Graduation on Friday, June 7th, 9:30am-11:30am.
Double Tailgate Day: Meeting Street & Joseph Floyd Manor: Saturday, June 8th, 10:30am-1:30pm. Meet at the church and then pick which Tailgate you’d like to serve.
2nd Saturday/2nd Meal: Saturday, June 8th, 9am-12noon. Come serve with us as we prepare a hot meal in the Coastal kitchen and then deliver those meals to one of our awesome ministry partners – organizations like Charleston Vets, S.C. Strong, Brighton Place, Joseph Floyd Manor and more!

This year’s theme for the movies is “Childhood Favorites” (hence, the “retro” feel for this year’s graphic). As always, there will be popcorn, movie trailers, and cool giveaways! Make sure you pick up the microwave popcorn invite tool this weekend to invite your friends to the series. ALL 1st Time Guests (and the person who invited them – YOU) will receive a FREE Movie Ticket to Citadel Mall Theater throughout the entire series!
- Mark your calendar for our next Coastal Night of Worship – Wednesday night, June 19th, 6:30-8pm! Invite your friends and family to join us for a night of prayer, worship, and encouragement. RSVP now for childcare (birth-kindergarten) on your Connect Card.
- We are planning our Annual BEACH BAPTISM out at Folly Beach County Park on Sunday, June 9th, at 5pm. You can sign up for it on our website. The only requirement for Baptism is that you have personally given your life to Jesus. Baptism is a public profession of your faith, and it’s a great celebration! It beautifully illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. If you’re unable to participate in our Beach Baptism, remember at Coastal we’re ready for you to get Baptized any service, any Sunday. If you are interested in getting Baptized, simply respond to this email, sign up on your Connect Card, or sign up on our website. We also have a Beach Baptism scheduled for the end of the Summer on Sunday, August, 11th.
- Don’t miss Father’s Day this year at Coastal, Sunday, June 16th! We’ll have a fun gift for all the men, giveaways at the end of each service, and FREE Kona Ice. We’re also having another Baby/Child Dedication on Father’s Day. If you would like your family to participate, sign up on your Connect Card this Sunday OR sign up online.
