Wow – we had an amazing Mother’s Day this past Sunday at Coastal with 1400 people in attendance (and another 891 online)! We had 32 children participate in Baby/Child Dedication over our 3 services (the most ever)! By the way, we have another Baby/Child Dedication coming up on Father’s Day, June 16th. Between the Photo Booth, the zipper bag/gift card, Kona Ice, the Give-aways at the end of each service, and the service itself – I hope every woman walked out of Coastal on Sunday feeling encouraged and loved!
On Sunday, June 9th, we kick off one of our favorite sermon series traditions here at Coastal – “AT THE MOVIES”! In fact, this is our 15th year doing the series! If you’re new to Coastal, don’t worry, we’re not preaching from the movies themselves. We simply use them as a hook to talk about spiritual truth straight from God’s Word. This year’s theme for the movies is “Childhood Favorites” (hence, the “retro” feel for this year’s graphic). So, each one of our Pastors will be using a favorite movie from their childhood. Just out of curiosity – what were some of your favorite childhood movies? Reply to this email and let me know! As always, there will be popcorn, movie trailers, and cool giveaways! Make sure you pick up the microwave popcorn invite tool this weekend to invite your friends to the series. ALL 1st Time Guests (and the person who invited them – YOU) will receive a FREE Movie Ticket to Citadel Mall Theater throughout the entire series! We’ll also be taking the kids (and anyone who wants to come) to a FREE movie over the Summer! We’re still working out the details, but we’ll let you know soon. So mark Sunday, June 9th on your calendar, and start praying about who you will be inviting and bringing to church during the series!
If you and your family haven’t yet signed up for multiple projects for Summer of IMPACT, it’s time to do so! And I seriously encourage you to spread the word with your friends, neighbors, family, and co-workers, especially those people in your life who don’t have a church home or who aren’t even believers. Why? Because God created everyone with the desire to be a part of something bigger than yourself and to make a difference. And believe it or not, most churches don’t have a very good reputation for serving and loving their communities unconditionally. So leverage Summer of IMPACT as a way to include those who might not darken the door of a church, but would be willing to volunteer in the community. Don’t you see? Not only is Summer of IMPACT a great opportunity to serve and bless our community and you – but it is also an opportunity for outreach with your friends! Coffee & Doughnuts with the Vets at Patriot Villas – Today, Friday, May 17th, 8:30am-11:30am. Meet at Coastal.
Hope Center Tailgate: The Hope Center, managed by the city of Charleston, serves as a one-stop shop in downtown Charleston to assist those who are homeless or who are at-risk of being homeless. We’re sending a Tailgate Team to serve dinner to anyone who is hungry. We meet at Coastal on Tuesday, May 21st, 12pm-3pm.
Brighton Place Tailgate: We will be putting on a Tailgate for the Brighton Place community (here in West Ashley – near Citadel Mall) on Wednesday, May 22nd, 6-8pm. Meet at Coastal.
Food Pantry Sort & Stock: Coastal feeds an enormous amount of people. Come to the church and
help keep our Food Pantry organized (and have a lot of fun while you’re at it)! Thursday, May 23rd, 11:30am-1pm.
Lowcountry Orphan Relief: Lowcountry Orphan Relief provides support services and aid to meet the needs of Lowcountry children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglect. Coastal will be serving there, Friday, May 24th, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 1850 Truxton Ave in North Charleston.
Downtown Charleston “Hotdog Ministry”: We will be grilling and serving hotdogs to the homeless and hungry downtown! Friday, May 24th, 4-6:30pm. Meet at Coastal.

All tickets will need to be requested by texting the word “tickets” to 843-571-1777 and then filling out the form on the link you receive in return. No ticket requests from the previous game are being held. You must RE-request the number of tickets you would like.

- If it’s been a while since you’ve seen one of our Beach Baptism videos, watch the one above (make sure you have a box of tissues nearby)! We are planning our Annual BEACH BAPTISM out at Folly Beach County Park on Sunday, June 9th, at 5pm. You can sign up for it on our website. The only requirement for Baptism is that you have personally given your life to Jesus. Baptism is a public profession of your faith, and it’s a great celebration! It beautifully illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. If you’re unable to participate in our Beach Baptism, remember at Coastal we’re ready for you to get Baptized any service, any Sunday. If you are interested in getting Baptized, simply respond to this email, sign up on your Connect Card, or sign up on our website. We also have a Beach Baptism scheduled for the end of the Summer on Sunday, August, 11th.
- One of the things we get asked A LOT is, “When are we going to have a Coastal Store? Are those hoodies or zip ups that I see the Staff wearing available to buy?” Well, guess what? Coastal now has an ONLINE STOREwith t-shirts, hats, and other merch available for purchase! Throughout the year, more seasonal items will be added. For example, be on the lookout for a Nike Polo for the Summer! During the Fall, we’ll add hoodies and zip ups! If you have any suggestions, please let us know.
