Obviously there has been a big build up for Easter, but don’t think for a second that everything slows down and comes to a screeching halt after Easter at Coastal. In fact, just the opposite is true. Here are 4 things that I’m excited about that I want to share with you:
– Mother’s Day, May 12th, is going to be awesome! Ladies (all women, not just moms) will receive a special gift from the church! And yes, there will be Kona Ice, Giveaways, and a Photo Booth. But Mother’s Day (and Father’s Day) means Baby/Child Dedication at Coastal. We’re capping each service at 10 families per service, so sign up on your Connect Card this weekend for the service of your choice – first come, first serve!
– SUMMER OF IMPACT! If you’ve been at Coastal over a Summer, you know what this is all about. It’s basically the Outreach/Serving projects we do during the month ON STEROIDS for the month of June! This year there are over 58 different projects – something for everyone, almost every day of the month of June. You’ll get to see a calendar insert on Easter Sunday!
– BEACH BAPTISM! This is always a special highlight of the year! We usually have a Beach Baptism at the beginning of the Summer and the end of the Summer. Our first one will be Sunday, June 9th, 5pm, at Folly Beach County Park. If you are interested in getting Baptized at the Beach, you can go to our website and sign up today!
– VBS AT COASTAL! Mark your calendars now – July 8th-12th, from 6-8:15pm each night for children 4 years old – 5th Grade! This year’s theme is “Scuba – Diving Into Friendship With God!” You’ll be able to start registering your children and signing up to serve over Easter weekend!
Wow! And that’s just 4 things around the corner I’m excited about! It doesn’t even include our annual kick off of “At the Movies”, Summer Camp for our Students, a Missions Trip to Peru, and Coastal Day at the River Dogs! - UPCOMING OUTREACH PROJECTS:
Lowcountry Orphan Relief: Lowcountry Orphan Relief provides support services and aid to meet the needs of Lowcountry children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglect. Coastal will be serving there, TODAY, Friday, March 22nd, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 1850 Truxton Ave in North Charleston.
Downtown Charleston “Hotdog Ministry”: We will be grilling and serving hotdogs to the homeless and hungry downtown! TODAY, Friday, March 22nd and Friday, March 29th, 4-6:30pm. Meet at Coastal.
Coffee & Doughnuts with the Vets at Patriot Villas – Friday, April 5th, 8:30am-11:30am. Meet at Coastal.
Clothing Team: Our Coastal Clothing Team will be organizing and sorting clothes, Friday, April 5th and Monday, April 8th, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 2952 Old Pond Road on Johns Island.
Saturday Serve: The foundation of all of our serving opportunities at Coastal really starts with Saturday Serve – the first Saturday of every month. The next Saturday Serve is Saturday, April 6th. We meet in the Welcome Center/Cafe at 8:30am, project leaders make a “pitch” for their serving opportunity, and then we serve!
Ronald McDonald House On the Go Meal Kits: On Saturday, April 6th, 4:30-7pm, we will be packing “On the Go Meal/Snack Bags” for the residents of the Ronald McDonald House. Meet at Coastal.

Hopefully you’ve already been praying during our 40 Day Easter Fast. To help mobilize our church even further in prayer, our Prayer Team is organizing two events that you can participate in. We’re conducting a Prayer Walk on Wednesday, March 27th at 5pm at Coastal – everyone welcome. We’re also conducting a 24-hour Prayer Vigil (from your home). We’re praying in 15-minute increments for a continuous 24-hour period beginning at 6:30pm on Thursday, March 28th, until 6:30pm on Friday, March 29th. - Well, it’s time – time to make the ask and invite your friends to church this Easter! Our Easter services are now officially ONE WEEK AWAY! Hopefully by now you’re well aware that we’re having 6 identical services over three days (see times and dates above). And speaking of making the ask, what’s the worst thing that can happen? They say no. And by the way, just because someone says no, keep praying, keep loving, keep serving, look for the open door and ask again later. But think for a moment about the best thing that could happen. You could be used by God to literally affect someone’s eternity. It’s possible that they hear the Good News of the Gospel and give their life to Jesus! We have the opportunity to literally change the trajectory of entire generations by a simple ask. Don’t believe me? You’re a part of Coastal today because a friend invited me to church when I was 13 years old. One week later from that ask, I gave my life to Jesus and felt God’s call for ministry. Make the ask!
For those of you on Social Media, please go to our Easter at Coastal webpage and click on the “Download Shareable Easter Invite Images” button. A zip file containing a folder of different images will automatically download on your computer. These are great images to use on Facebook and Instagram to get the word out and invite people to Coastal for Easter!
And while you’re on our Easter At Coastal page, make sure you go ahead and register for the service you and your family and friends are planning to attend! That way we can let people know when a service is reaching capacity. Make sure you connect with your LIFE Team Leader and sign up now to serve at one or more of our services (see contact info. below). - If you’re fairly new to Coastal, a great next step is our Newcomers Reception. Our next Newcomers Reception is Sunday, April 14th, in our Chapel immediately following the 11:30am service (at approximately 12:45pm). This is a great way to learn more about Coastal, meet staff and key volunteers, as well as meet some other new people. Pizza and childcare provided. You can sign up on our website today!
P.S. To pull off a big weekend like Easter with 6 services, we need 2 things to happen: 1. We need our current volunteers to serve multiple services. Please keep in mind that Sunday will need the most volunteers. 2. We need new volunteers to start serving! If you’ve never volunteered before, Easter weekend is a great time to start! You can sign up to serve on your Connect Card this Sunday or you can go to our website and sign up today! Our LIFE Team Leaders will follow up with you and get you started!

P.S.S. Coastal Community Church’s Internship Program is an eight-week, Summer Ministry experience designed to give participants (ages 16-26) a glimpse into life in ministry. Passionate & gifted participants will gain valuable experience while working alongside Coastal staff members in areas of Administration, Outreach, Worship Arts, Production & Communications, Children’s, or Student Ministries.
