I know sometimes I must sound like a broken record, but it was another amazing Sunday at Coastal this past week! It was LIFE Group Sunday! We had 1131 people in-person and another 907 online! By the way, I want to thank those of you who have been parking over at Oakland – please keep it up! I can’t thank all of our LIFE Group Leaders enough for all of their hard work and creativity (SNL’s Lunchroom Lady, all the “B’s” buzzing around) this past Sunday! They “knocked it out of the park” again! It was as though you could reach out and touch the excitement, fun, and enthusiasm in the room! Plus, are you ready for this, so far we’ve had over 900 total signups for LIFE Groups! That’s AWESOME!
While a few of our LIFE Groups are already full, many are not. So go to our website, check out the catalog, and sign up for a LIFE Group today! Once you sign up for a LIFE Group, your Group Leader will contact you with all the important information. Most LIFE Groups begin THIS coming week. And then don’t forget that this Sunday, September 15th, we jump back into our series on the Sermon on the Mount, called, “Blessed!” I’ll be preaching from Matthew 5:13-16 where Jesus talks about being salt and light. He’s telling us that as we follow Him, we will have an impact on the world around us – much like salt and light. Why not put that passage into practice this weekend and invite someone to join you at church on Sunday. I love you Coastal! I love being your Pastor! And I love making an IMPACT with you!

- UPCOMING OUTREACH PROJECTS:
Lowcountry Orphan Relief: Lowcountry Orphan Relief provides support services and aid to meet the needs of Lowcountry children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglect. Coastal will be serving there, TODAY, Friday, September 13th, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 1850 Truxton Ave in North Charleston.
Double Tailgate Day: Meeting Street & Joseph Floyd Manor: Tomorrow, Saturday, September 14th, 10:30am-1:30pm. Meet at the church and then pick which Tailgate you’d like to serve.
2nd Saturday/2nd Meal: Tomorrow, Saturday, September 14th, 9am-12noon. Come serve with us as we prepare a hot meal in the Coastal kitchen and then deliver those meals to one of our awesome ministry partners – organizations like Charleston Vets, S.C. Strong, Brighton Place, Joseph Floyd Manor and more!
Clothing Team: Our Coastal Clothing Team will be organizing and sorting clothes, Monday, September 16th, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 2952 Old Pond Road on Johns Island.
Hope Center Tailgate: The Hope Center, managed by the city of Charleston, serves as a one-stop shop in downtown Charleston to assist those who are homeless or who are at-risk of being homeless. We’re sending a Tailgate Team to serve dinner to anyone who is hungry. We meet at Coastal on Tuesday, September 17th, 12pm-3pm.
VA Hospitality Project: This team serves at the VA Hospital in Charleston by providing a hospitality cart, greeting incoming patients and employees, visiting patients, and helping Volunteer Services with small sorting projects. Wednesday, September 18th, 8:30am-12pm. Meet at Coastal.
Coffee & Doughnuts with the Vets at Patriot Villas: Thursday, September 19th, 8:30am-11:30am. Meet at Coastal.
Food Pantry Sort & Stock: Coastal feeds an enormous amount of people. Come to the church and help keep our Food Pantry organized (and have a lot of fun while you’re at it)! Thursday, September 19th, 11:30am-1pm.
VA Stand Down for Homeless: Feeding approximately 400 local Veterans and their Service Providers. Friday, September 20th, 9:30am-2pm. Meet at Coastal.
Ronald McDonald House Meals That Heal: On Saturday, September 21st, 8-10am, we will be providing breakfast for the resident of the Ronald McDonald House. Meet at Coastal.

- Typically, during our LIFE Group semester, our Groups help take care of chair set up in our auditorium on Saturday mornings. But until Groups get started, we could use help on the following dates: Tomorrow, Saturday, September 14th at 9:30am and Saturday, September 21st at 8am. If you are able to help or would like to join the Chair Team, email Pastor Scott Huff.
- If you’re fairly new to Coastal, a great next step is our Newcomers Reception. Our next Newcomers Reception is Sunday, October 6th, in our Chapel immediately following the 11:30am service (at approximately 12:45pm). This is a great way to learn more about Coastal, meet staff and key volunteers, as well as meet some other new people. Pizza and childcare provided. You can sign up on our website today.
- Attention Coastal Student Ministry Parents and families! Sign your student up for CSM Serve Weekend! It’s September 27-29, and it’s a weekend where students will learn why we serve and that God has gifted each of us uniquely to serve others. Plus we’re going to go and actually serve together! Amidst all of this, we’re going to worship, dig into God’s Word, and have a ton of fun in between! All you do is drop your student off on Friday, and we’ll see you on Sunday where you will pick up your student at the third service! It’s just $75!
