I’M BACK! Janet and I are back from our vacation. We went to Knoxville, TN to see our daughter and her husband, and then we went to Folly Beach and hung out there for a few days. We had a great, great time. We got to see our children, hang out with some good friends, fish (me), sew (Janet), eat some good food, rest, and relax. But as always, it’s also good to be home!
Speaking of home, for every home or family to thrive and function well, there are certain things that have to get done. In other words, we all have to pitch in and do our part. Well, the same is true of a church family. For OUR Coastal family to grow, thrive, and function well, there are certain things that have to get done. We call those “things” – ministry. And at Coastal, all of those ministry opportunities take place through our LIFE Teams. For the month of August, there has been a real push on finding a place to serve in the family here at Coastal on Sunday mornings. In fact, we’ve said, if you call Coastal your home, you should be able to answer this question, “What is my ministry and where am I serving on Sunday mornings?”
Well, I’d like to highlight one possible LIFE Team for you to serve on here at Coastal – our Coastal Kidz Children’s Ministry (Birth – 5th Grade). We strongly believe that if our church is going to continue to grow, we must have a growing, thriving Children’s Ministry. We also believe that if you help change the life of a child, you change the world! Simply put, join Coastal Kidz and be a WORLD CHANGER! There are so many opportunities for men, women, and even students to serve – from Child Check-In, to Lead Teacher, to Classroom Assistants, to holding babies in Nursery. So, stop what you’re doing right now, go to our website and sign up to get involved with Coastal Kidz! One last thing, Teachers and Students have all made their way back to school! No matter what school looks like for you and your family this year – public, private, charter, homeschool, or even college – will you join me in praying for our Teachers, Students, and Parents? - UPCOMING OUTREACH PROJECTS:
Lowcountry Orphan Relief: Lowcountry Orphan Relief provides support services and aid to meet the needs of Lowcountry children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglect. Coastal will be serving there TODAY, Friday, August 23rd, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 1850 Truxton Ave in North Charleston.
Downtown Charleston “Hotdog Ministry”: We will be grilling and serving hotdogs to the homeless and hungry downtown! Today, Friday, August 23rd; Friday, August 30th, 4-6:30pm. Meet at Coastal.
Brighton Place Tailgate: We will be putting on a Tailgate for the Brighton Place community (here in West Ashley – near Citadel Mall) on Wednesday, August 28th, 6-8:30pm. Meet at Coastal.
Food Pantry Sort & Stock: Coastal feeds an enormous amount of people. Come to the church and help keep our Food Pantry organized (and have a lot of fun while you’re at it)! Thursday, August 29th; Thursday, September 5th, 11:30am-1pm.
Coffee & Doughnuts with the Vets at Patriot Villas: Friday, September 6th, 8:30am-11:30am. Meet at Coastal.

- Coastal is looking to hire an Administrative Assistant. This would be a part time, hourly position – approximately 31 hours a week, Monday-Thursday, 9am-4pm, Sundays 10am-1pm. This person would work closely with Rachel Speer, supporting our Pastors and Staff, and managing our office reception area. - Guess what? This coming Sunday, in your bulletin, you’ll be receiving your 2024 Fall Semester LIFE Group Catalog and you can start signing up for a Group! I love what we do here at Coastal on Sunday mornings! I do! I love everything about it. I love the music. I love watching people come to faith. I love all of our LIFE Teams and our Sunday morning Volunteers. Sunday mornings at Coastal is an exciting place to be. I don’t understand how you would ever want to miss it. But. . . there is one weakness with a crowd. It’s hard to grow in a crowd. You don’t live out/walk out your faith in a crowd. You need community. And that’s what our LIFE Groups are all about! This semester, we have 64 different LIFE Groups to choose from! And since we’re all studying the same thing, you really just have to pick out the time and location of the Group you’re interested in. And don’t worry, we still have our Support and Recreation Groups. Unless otherwise indicated, most Groups begin the week of September 15th and last 11 weeks (right around Thanksgiving). Oh, and one more thing, because you read my Friday 5, you can go online, check out all the Groups, and sign up today! - This Sunday, August 25th, 5:30-7PM, CSM is kicking off our Fall Semester programming! We are so excited to invest in your Student (6th-12th Grade), and we have a fun night planned. There’s going to be food, games, bubble soccer, smores and an open gym! The goal of our kickoff is for Students to reconnect with each other and their leaders, while having a ton of fun at the same time. If you have a 6th-12th Grade Student, this is a great night to introduce them to CSM! As a parent or guardian, please plan to come inside when you drop off your Student so that we can update your information in our system. We look forward to serving you and your family in this season!
