Woohoo! I’ve got a couple of exciting things to share! First of all, we just unveiled our 2026 Spring Semester LIFE Group Catalog online TODAY! You’ll receive a hard copy NEXT Sunday, AND you should get a copy in the mail next week as well. Don’t worry, if you get more than one copy, simply share it with a friend. But we would love for you to go ahead and check out all of our different Groups (there’s something for everyone) and sign up to join a LIFE Group this semester (8-12 weeks)! By the way, our LIFE Groups are for everyone – whether you’re a member of our church, an occasional attender, or even if you’ve never attended on a Sunday. We’re called Coastal COMMUNITY Church and you (and your friends and family) are all a part of our community. There are all types of Groups – activity, women’s, men’s, support, marriage, Bible study, Young Adults, Senior Adults, and more!
By the way, not only can you view the catalog online, but you can sign up for a Group online (probably the best way to sign up)! Once you sign up for a group, your Group Leader will contact you before the semester begins. Unless otherwise stated in the catalog, all Groups begin the week of February 15th.
I also want to invite you to attend LIFE GROUP SUNDAY, on Sunday, February 8th, at Coastal! We have 3 services – 8:30am, 10am, & 11:30am. Before and after all 3 services you’ll be able to visit a table/booth representing each one of our 76 different LIFE Groups (kind of like a Job/College Fair, but for Groups)! There will be snacks, you’ll be able to meet other people checking out all the Groups, meet the different Group Leaders, and ask any questions you might have. I promise it will be a great day and a lot of fun (there will even be FREE KONA ICE outside for everyone)! Start signing up for a LIFE Group today!
The other thing that I’m excited to share with you is that this Sunday I’m kicking off our new sermon series from the New Testament book of 1 John! 1 John 5:13 sums up the overall purpose of the letter. He says, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” Isn’t that awesome? Read that verse one more time. We don’t have to guess. We don’t have to wonder. We can actually KNOW that we have eternal life! How many of you would agree that’s pretty important? Anybody interested in what happens to you after you die? Anybody interested in where you’re headed after your life here on earth is done? That’s why John wrote this letter, so that we could be certain about the truths of Christianity and confident in our relationship with Jesus. I can’t wait to jump in with you this Sunday. I love you Coastal! I love being your Pastor! And I love doing LIFE with you!

- UPCOMING OUTREACH PROJECTS:
Downtown Charleston “Hotdog Ministry”: We will be grilling and serving hotdogs to the homeless and hungry downtown! TODAY, Friday, January 23rd; Friday, January 30th, 4pm-6pm. Meet at Coastal.
JFM Fellowship Activity & Devotion: A fun project for kids! We’ll serve at Joseph Floyd Manor (JFM), a public housing facility in Downtown Charleston, playing BINGO with the residents. Monday, January 26th, 1pm-2:30pm. Meet at JFM.
Brighton Place Fellowship Activity & Devotion: This project will allow us to spend some time with the residents and get to know them better through a lively game of Chair Volleyball, a meal, and devotion. Kid Friendly! Tuesday, January 27th, 1:30pm-3pm. Meet at: Brighton Place, 1429 Orleans Road.
Sewing Project: Sewing experience not required! Come and acquire a new skill while helping others in the community. This team of volunteers will work on zippered pouches, lap quilts, and blankets. Meet at Coastal on Wednesday, January 28th; Wednesday, February 4th, 5pm-8pm.
Brighton Place Tailgate: We will be putting on a Tailgate for the Brighton Place community (here in West Ashley – near Citadel Mall) on Wednesday, January 28th, 6-8:30pm. Meet at Coastal.
Food Pantry Sort & Stock: Coastal feeds an enormous amount of people. Come to the church and help keep our Food Pantry organized (and have a lot of fun while you’re at it)! Thursday, January 29th; Thursday, February 5th, 11:30am-1pm.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Pastor Chris Jones. - Coastal Kidz is hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Night for our amazing CK Volunteers on Friday, January 30th from 6:30-8:30pm. Please join us for an evening of dinner, conversation, gifts, and honoring all of YOU! Click this link to sign-up (an option for childcare is included) so we can plan for food. This is not a required event, but one we hope you will partake in.
- If you’re fairly new to Coastal, a great next step is our Newcomers Reception. Our next Newcomers Reception is Sunday, February 1st, in our Chapel immediately following the 11:30am service (at approximately 12:45pm). This is a great way to learn more about Coastal, meet staff and key volunteers, as well as meet some other new people. Pizza and childcare provided. You can sign up on our website today!
- Interested in making an eternal IMPACT right here in our community, our country, and around the world? Consider joining Coastal’s Online Engagement Team! We are looking for Online Hosts to help welcome and connect with over 1000 participants online each week! If you are interested, email Morgan Spell at morgan@coastalcommunitychurch.org.
- You should be receiving your 2025 Year End Giving Statement from our church this week – mail or email. Please check your records for your Statement’s accuracy and contact us if there are any problems. Make sure your information is current and correct in our database. Text the keyword ME to 843-571-1777 to view and update your contact information, manage your giving, access your giving statement, and more! If you receive an error, that means we do not have your cell phone number in our church system, so go online and fill out your Connect Card with your information. If you have any questions about your statement, please reach out to our Financial Administrator, Kathy Love, at finance@coastalcommunitychurch.org. It is your consistent, faithful, generous giving that enables our church to make its IMPACT.
