We had an amazing kickoff to the new year this past Sunday at Coastal!  We had 1172 people in attendance and another 905 online.  Most importantly we had our first baptism of the new year!  This past year we baptized 171 people!  Our goal for 2025 is 200 – 1 down 199 to go!  I preached a message on finances and it must have struck a chord because we had 17 people sign up for Financial Peace University through our website and we had 14 first time givers on Sunday!

Speaking of our attendance – the 10am service was PACKED!  We even had to bring in extra chairs!  Truthfully, we had seats available in the room, we’ve just got to do a better job of filling in those seats and not leaving open seats between you and someone else.  If not, once the service starts and people are standing and singing, it’s hard to find empty seats.   In fact, we’re going to start training our Ushers to seat people as they come in the 10am service, filling in all available seats.  Please help us make this happen.  We never want to turn anyone away because we couldn’t find seats.  In fact, if you see that happening, especially with someone new, be willing to give up your seat.  As always, if you are able, please consider coming to the 8:30am or 11:30am service.  This definitely helps.  These are good problems to have.  Problems are simply opportunities to test our willingness to do whatever it takes to reach people.

This Sunday is my annual, “The Year In Review/Year Ahead” message – kind of a “State of the Church” address.  Don’t miss it!  Our natural tendency, is to dwell in the past, to live in the past, to get stuck in the past.  And all that does is keep us from experiencing all that God has in store for us today and where He is leading us tomorrow.  Isaiah 43:18-19, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”  Sunday will be an opportunity to celebrate God’s faithfulness and what He did through Coastal this past year.  And it will be an opportunity to expand our vision for the new year.  I’m asking God to help us see something more, something that challenges us as a church.   I’m asking the Lord to give us a glimpse of what Coastal could do and become.  I love you Coastal!  I love being your Pastor!  And I love what we get to do together!  And I can’t with to see you on Sunday!

In His Service & Yours!
Pastor Chris
