As you’ve already heard, we had an amazing Easter weekend at Coastal as we kicked off our “Breakthrough” series. But what was amazing to me was what happened this past Sunday, the week after Easter. For many churches the week after Easter can be a huge letdown, but not at Coastal. Before Easter, our Sunday morning in-person attendance had been hovering right around 1175. Occasionally, we would have over 1200. This past Sunday we had 1322 in-person and another 1022 online. We also had 34 1st & 2nd Time Guest Connect Cards filled out, 12 different decisions for Jesus, and 10 more people signed up to be Baptized at Folly Beach on June 8th (we now have 42 people signed up to get Baptized)! It was our first “non Big Day” breaking 1300. WOW, just wow!
All of this shows me that God is up to something at Coastal and that people are hungry for a “Breakthrough.” I hope you’re enjoying the series and the book. If you haven’t picked up the free “Breakthrough” book, make sure you pick one up on Sunday. And speaking of a breakthrough, as we were reading through all the Prayer Requests over Easter Weekend, and all the breakthroughs that people shared and were seeking, the overwhelming breakthrough that people were in need of was a financial breakthrough. Let’s just be honest with each other. Our world is in a financial mess! Families are in a financial mess and are falling apart. The world’s way just doesn’t work. But God’s way does! So let’s take this issue back! Let’s boldly proclaim God’s word and help people honor God with their finances, break the chains of materialism, get out of debt, and experience a real BREAKTHROUGH in this area!

Coffee & Doughnuts with the Vets at Patriot Villas: TODAY, Friday, May 2nd, 8:30am-11:30am. Meet at Coastal.
Clothing Team: Our Coastal Clothing Team will be organizing and sorting clothes, TODAY, Friday, May 2nd; Monday, May 5th; Friday, May 9th; Monday, May 12th, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 2952 Old Pond Road on Johns Island.
Saturday Serve: The foundation of all of our serving opportunities at Coastal really starts with Saturday Serve – the first Saturday of every month. The next Saturday Serve is TOMORROW, Saturday, May 3rd. We meet in the Auditorium at 8:30am, Project Leaders make a “pitch” for their serving opportunity, and then we go out and serve!
Food Pantry Sort & Stock: Coastal feeds an enormous amount of people. Come to the church and help keep our Food Pantry organized (and have a lot of fun while you’re at it)! Thursday, May 8th, 11:30am-1pm.
Lowcountry Orphan Relief: Lowcountry Orphan Relief provides support services and aid to meet the needs of Lowcountry children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglect. Coastal will be serving there Friday May 9th, 9:30am-11:30am. Meet at 1850 Truxton Ave in North Charleston.
Double Tailgate Day: Meeting Street & Joseph Floyd Manor: Saturday, May 10th, 10:30am-1:30pm. Meet at the church and then pick which Tailgate you’d like to serve.
2nd Saturday/2nd Meal: Saturday, May 10th, 9am-12noon. Come serve with us as we prepare a hot meal in the Coastal kitchen and then deliver those meals to one of our awesome ministry partners – organizations like Charleston Vets, S.C. Strong, Brighton Place, Joseph Floyd Manor and more!
Soldier’s Angels: We’ll be helping with the Veteran’s Mobile Food Distribution, Tuesday, May 13th, 8am-12:30pm. Meet at 1113 Sam Rittenburg Blvd. (The Elks Lodge).

If you are fairly new to Coastal, Summer of IMPACT is a month-long effort (the entire month of June) where we as a church saturate our community with the love of Jesus through simple acts of service. It’s basically what we normally do all throughout the year, but MULTIPLIED during the month of June! In fact, there are over 70 projects this year and there is something for everyone. You simply sign-up and then show-up. It’s that easy. Every project has a leader and every project is well-organized. All the projects are loaded on our website and you can start signing up TODAY!
- Mark your calendar for our next Coastal Night of Worship – Wednesday night, May 28th, 6:30-8pm! Invite your friends and family to join us for a night of prayer, worship, and encouragement. RSVP now for childcare (birth-kindergarten) on your Connect Card.
- Mother’s Day is NEXT Sunday, May 11th! As always, it’s going to be a great celebration at Coastal with a gift for all the women, fun giveaways at the end of each of our 4 services (8:30am, 10am, 11:30am, 1pm), FREE Kona Ice for everyone, a Family Photo Booth, and Baby & Child Dedication during all 4 services (we already have 22 families signed up)! If you would like your family to participate in the Baby & Child Dedication, sign up on your Connect Card this weekend. Include your child’s full name and the service you will be attending.
- We are planning our Annual BEACH BAPTISM out at Folly Beach County Park on Sunday, June 8th, at 5pm. You can sign up for it on our website. We already have over 40 people getting Baptized! The only requirement for Baptism is that you have personally given your life to Jesus. Baptism is a public profession of your faith, and it’s a great celebration! It beautifully illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. If you’re unable to participate in our Beach Baptism, remember at Coastal we’re ready for you to get Baptized any service, any Sunday.
