The foundation of all of our serving opportunities at Coastal really starts with Saturday Serve – the first Saturday of every month. We meet in the Welcome Center/Cafe at 8:30am, project leaders make a “pitch” for their serving opportunity, and then we serve!
You will have the option to serve a hot meal at the North Charleston Tailgate, distribute clothing items, sew community items with the sewing group, join in kids’ projects at the church, restock blessing boxes, service at Lowcountry Food Bank, cook meals in the kitchen, and more!
Bring the whole family to Saturday Serve – the first saturday of every month! The kids will enjoy serving their community by making crafts and cards for the residents at Patriot Villas, Charleston Vets, and Joseph Floyd Manor!
Leader: Tracy Gundy mrandmrsgundy@gmail.com
The sewing team works on community projects, all ages and abilities are welcome to join in! This team makes lap throws for the residents of Joseph Floyd Manor, baby blankets for the NICU patients at East Cooper Medical Center, toiletry bags for the community food pantry and blessing boxes, toiletry tote bags for the veterans at Patriot Villas, and more!

Coastal maintains a Community Food Pantry on its campus with perishable & non-perishable food and personal items to help feed those in our community who are facing food insecurity. The pantry is open the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 12:00pm-1:30pm, or upon appointment. You do not have to be a member of the church to use this pantry.
Donations for the food pantry can be dropped off in the grocery cart in the church or shipped to 460 Arlington Drive Charleston, SC 29414. All donations are welcome, but our urgent/current needs will be posted on our Facebook and Instagram.
Leaders: Steve & Sue Miller millerss511@gmail.com
We serve monthly at the Lowcountry Food Bank as a part of Saturday Serve. Join the team as we help to battle food insecurity in the Charleston area. Teams will help sort donations, pack “Backpack Buddies,” school lunches, and crisis-disaster relief boxes. This project is high energy and fast paced in a warehouse setting, this has the potential to help so many people in a short amount of time.
Leader: Bryan Druce badruce@gmail.com
Coastal stocks multiple Blessing Boxes located throughout the Charleston area. Volunteers can supply these boxes in one of two ways:
If you are interested in helping feed families in need in our local neighborhoods, reach out to out Blessing Box Coordinators:

The mission of Lowcountry Orphan Relief (LOR) is to provide support services and aid to meet the needs of Lowcountry children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglect. Our volunteers serve at the LOR Distribution Center and help sort, store, pack and distribute all donations for the children LOR serves. Each child, as a part of LOR’s mission, will receive a “Care Kit” filled with 2 weeks of clothing, shoes, and toiletries as well as school supplies, stuffed animals, and books.

This team serves our neighbors experiencing homelessness through our partnership with the Hope Center in downtown Charleston. This monthly tailgating event provides the most vulnerable in our community with a hot meal, clothing and fellowship. It’s a great opportunity to share the love of Jesus with those who often feel unloved.

Joseph Floyd Manor is a public housing facility in downtown Charleston. It is home to ~100 residents who are mostly low income, elderly and face a host of medical challenges. This team provides a monthly hot meal, clothing distribution and fellowship. Our church enjoys a wonderful relationship with our ministry partners, Friends of Joseph Floyd Manor.
Leaders: Steve and Karen Laughlin karenlaughlin2626@gmail.com
Volunteer with Soldiers’ Angels to supply low-income veterans and their families with food assistance at the Mobile Food Distribution. This project consists of preparing groceries (provided by the local food bank) for approximately 250 local veterans and their families. Volunteers then assist in the loading of the groceries in the veterans vehicle. Many of these veterans are disabled and have financial difficulties. It is a wonderful opportunity to give back to those who have given our nation so much.
Leader: Pastor Chris Jones chrisjones@coastalcommunitychurch.org
Charleston Vets is a transitional housing facility in North Charleston for veterans who are struggling with addiction. This team regularly hosts tailgating events for the vets where volunteers spend time in fellowship, as we continue to build relationships with those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
Leaders: Eddy & Peggy Schwacke swaky2@att.net
This team serves at the VA hospital in Charleston by providing a hospitality cart, greets incoming patients and employees, conducts patient visits, and typically a small sorting project for the Volunteer Services at the hospital. If you’re a regular giver, please continue to be faithful with your generosity at Coastal. You may not know this, but in the rare event that we’ve closed for a day for an unforeseen circumstance, it’s difficult to recover from just one missed Sunday for the rest of the year. Your weekly gifts are a vital resource that allows us to continue the work that God has called us to do, and our in-person Sunday services only represent a small portion of that work. When you continue to give during this crisis, your gifts allow us to maintain critical ministries that many depend on.
You can give online at any time at coastalcommunitychurch.org/give/, or by texting with the word “GIVE” to 843-571-1777. Thank you so much for your faithfulness to give!
If you would like to receive regular email updates from us, you can sign up for our mailing list by emailing Pastor Chris Jones.
We are always looking for new community partners and serving opportunities. If our organization would like to partner with use to make an impact in our community, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out to our Missions & Outreach Pastor,Chris Jones, to discuss how our teams of volunteers can help your mission!

In a world 🌍 that is hurting and divided, I am encouraged by the opportunities to make positive change in the lives of people. Often it’s the tiniest incremental change, but it’s progress nonetheless. Whereas I am incredibly grateful for those who labor for others, I wonder what this world would look like if everyone would do just a little. My guess is that our world would look vastly different. 😊 coastalcommunitychurch.org/missions ...

So often we make the assumption that serving takes from us the one thing most are unwilling to give: TIME. What I have found to be true is that while it is a fact, time is expended when we serve others, what we get back far exceeds what we ever put in. Perhaps it’s why it has been written: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Thank you to our teams who are always finding life by giving their own away…coastal community church.org/missions ...
