Dear Coastal,

Woohoo!  It’s almost time to PARTY!  Saturday, July 1st is my actual birthday, but TONIGHT, 7-9pm at the church is my Birthday Party!  And yes, YOU ARE INVITED!  I’m not exactly sure of the details, but I know there’s going to be A LOT of food, cake and music!  Bring the whole family!  If you’re in town, I would be honored by your presence!

I know the Summer isn’t even half-way over yet, but our Staff is already in the process of planning out the Fall Semester of LIFE Groups.  With the growth of our church, this is shaping up to be one of our biggest semesters ever!  If you are interested in leading, assisting, or hosting a LIFE Group, please let us know now.  LIFE Group Training will be (pick one) Tuesday night, August 22nd, 7-9pm or Saturday morning, August 26th, 10am-12noon.  LIFE Group Sunday is August 27th and the Fall Semester starts the week of September 10th.

I hope you’re enjoying our “At the Movies” series this year – “Chick Flicks & Date Nights.”  From week to week over the Summer there are always a lot of people out of town, but in the last 3 weeks we’ve had 60 1st & 2nd Time Guest Connect Cards filled out, and we’ve given away over 20 Movie Tickets each week to 1st Time Guests!  Wow!  Keep it up Coastal!  Keep inviting!  Keep reaching out!  The Fall is going to be CRAZY!

Friday’s 5:

After our “At the Movies!” series, we’ll be in another Coastal Summer Sermon Series tradition called, “Summer Reading.”  Each week I’ll be using the subject matter from one of 6 different books as the subject matter for that Sunday’s message.  All 6 of the books are books that I recommend and are definitely worth reading.  The 6 Books this Summer are:  “The Prodigal God” by Tim Keller, “Accidental Pharisees” by Larry Osborne, “The Greatness Principle” by Nelson Searcy, “The Case for Christ” by Lee Strobel, “Grave Robber” by Mark Batterson, and “God Will Use This For Good” by Max Lucado.  Happy Reading!  Remember, “Leaders are Readers!”

3. ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for this Summer’s VBS!  This year’s theme is “Maker Fun Factory: Created by God – Built for a Purpose.”  The Dates for VBS are July 17-21, 6-8pm for children 4 years old – 5th Grade.  Register today and help us spread the word! There will be a volunteer insert in this Sunday’s bulletin.  VBS is “all hands on deck” at Coastal!  We need everyone to volunteer in some way to help make VBS a success.  Make sure you fill out and turn in the VBS Voluteer Insert in your Sunday Program.

5. Our Food Pantry that helps feed our community is running low.  Next Sunday, July 9th there will be a table in the back off the auditorium to drop off food.  Please bring in non-perishable items:  canned meats and pasta, PB&J, cereal, soups, etc.

Wow – all I can say is that our church loves them some WINGS!  I think we collectively ate somewhere between 2-3000 wings last Sunday for Wing Fest!  Thanks again to everyone who participated!  It made for quite the memorable Father’s Day!  Last week my message was a challenging one geared toward men.  Well, this week it’s the Ladie’s turn.  Ladies, don’t miss it!

I know it’s hard to believe (haha) – but I turn 50  next Saturday, July 1st (50 is the new 30 anyway right?)!  Well, you’re all invited to PARTY & CELEBRATE with me one week from today, next Friday, June 30th, 7-9pm at the church!  There will be plenty of FOOD, CAKE, & MUSIC!  No childcare – but the whole family is welcome!  It will be a great night to hang out and have some fun!  I would love for you to come!

What a great start to “At the Movies!” this past Sunday!  I kicked off the series using the classic “Date Night/Chick Flick” movie Cassablanca to talk about God’s original design for marriage.  As always we gave away a lot popcorn and some cool gifts at the end of each service!  Speaking of cool gifts – how about those cool Coastal shades we gave away in honor of the start of “At the Movies” and our day at the Beach!  That really was the highlight of the day – our Beach Baptism!!  20 people went public with their faith through Baptism out in the ocean at Folly Beach!  It never gets old!  Each person and their story brought tears of joy to my eyes!  It was so beautiful!  I posted a video of the Bapstim on Facebook that Ryan made with a GoPro.  Make sure you check it out and share it!

This Sunday, of course, is Father’s Day!  We’re going to have a lot of fun at Coastal!  First of all, we’re having a “WING FEST!”  Outside there will be a large tent with a bunch of people giving away their favorite chicken wings for you to try and vote on!  Kona Ice will be giving away FREE Snow Cones!  We will even have a few fun giveaways at the end of each service.  Plus, there will be a Baby/Child Dedication at the beginning of the second service!  I’ll be preaching a messag about the kind of men that God is looking for!  If you’re in town, DON’T MISS IT!  Invite and bring friends!  Remember, you and your 1st Time Guest get FREE Movie Tickets during our “At the Movies!” series.  But if you are out of town, don’t forget that you can watch the service live from our website.

You should have received your mid-year Giving Statement from the church in the mail this week.  If you have any questions or did not receive yours, please give our office a call.  First of all, thank you for generosity!  We couldn’t do what we do without your generous, consistent giving.  Each light we turn on, each Baptism, each life changed is a direct result of your giving.  As you look at the record of your giving so far this past year, ask yourself two questions, “What does my giving say about my faith? & What is the next step in my giving?”  For some of you, your next step is to be more consistent.  Consider automating your giving.  Some of you need to step out in faith and start tithing – a full 10% of what you earn.  Tithing is the only area where God says, “Test me.”  Put God to the test and He will prove Himself faithful.  You take care of God’s business and He will take care of yours. Again, thank you!  Together – we are are making an impact in this world and in the next!

Our Students leave for Student LIFE Camp in Myrtle Beach this coming Monday morning and return on Friday!  Please keep them in your prayers!  If you would like to give a scholarship to help pay for a Student’s cost of camp, please contact Ryan Spell at ryan@coastalcommunitychurch.org or 843-442-8985.

DON’T MISS THIS SUNDAY AT COASTAL!  We kick off the Summer with a Coastal Summer tradition – “At the Movies!”  The theme of this year’s “At the Movies!” series is, “Chick Flicks & Date Nights.” Each week we’ll be looking at what the Bible has to say about love, sex, dating, marriage, and relationships.  Each week of the series ALL 1st time guests will receive a FREE MOVIE TICKET to Citadel Mall Theater.  In fact, if you bring a guest with you to church, come over the blue Guest Tent and not only will your guest get a ticket, but you will too!  Oh, and we’re also giving away a flat screen tv in both services!  So – who are you inviting?

And then, after church we’re having a “Baptism & Barbecue” at Folly Beach County Park!  Over 20 people are getting baptized right now!!  The Baptism will be at 4pm with a Barbeque immediately following.  We’ve reserved the Pelican Watch Pavillion all day.  We’ll provide the pulled pork BBQ, paper products, and drinks and we’re asking everyone to pitch in and bring sides/dishes/desserts to share!  You can sign up for this Baptism on our website, on your Connect Card, or by responding to this email.  Parking at the Folly Beach County Park is $10 (just say you’re with Coastal at the gate – it’s normally $15 on the weekends) or free for Gold Pass Members.  For those looking to carpool, we’ll have a school bus leaving Coastal at 3pm for the Beach.  You can get a FREE ticket to ride the bus from Ryan Spell on Sunday morning (50 spaces, first come/first serve).  The bus will be leaving the Beach at 6pm and returning to Coastal.

“Schoooool’s out for Summer!”  And now another song is stuck in your head – you’re welcome (old-school props to anyone who knows the singer of that song)!  The first week of June marks the last week of school!  It’s hard to believe the school year has come and gone already.  In fact today, I want you to say a little prayer for me.  I’ve been asked to be one of the speakers for the 5th Grade Graduation over at Oakland Elementary School.  How awesome is that!
